What Is This Class?

This isn't your typical STEM class. In one weekend, your child goes from zero experience to battling a robot they built with their own hands — and they take it home. Saturday morning teaches real Arduino programming and electronics fundamentals, and Saturday afternoon they start building. Sunday they finish the robot, test and tune it, and fight. It's hands-on STEM engineering that produces a real, working machine — not a toy kit from a box.

If you're looking for a robotics class in NJ, a STEM class in Monmouth County, an Arduino class for kids, or a kids engineering class that teaches real skills — this is it. Plum Crazy Robotics is the only robotics school in New Jersey offering a combat robotics class where every student takes home the robot they built.

The Weekend

Saturday — Arduino, Electronics & Start the Build

Morning: students learn real Arduino programming from scratch — circuits, wiring, motor control, and how to make hardware respond to code. Afternoon: they put those skills to work and start building their combat robot — chassis assembly, motors, and wiring. This is the same Arduino curriculum used in our year-round robotics classes for kids.

Sunday — Finish, Test & Battle

Morning: finish the build — weapon mounting, wiring the receiver and speed controllers, armor, and final checks — then driver practice and troubleshooting. Afternoon: arena battles. Students compete, see what broke, fix it, and fight again. Parents are welcome to watch the final battles. Every student takes their combat robot home.

What Your Child Learns

This class covers real engineering skills that carry over into school, future robotics classes, and eventually careers in STEM. In one weekend your child will learn Arduino programming, basic electronics and circuit design, motor control and wiring, combat robot engineering principles, iterative design (test, fail, fix, improve), teamwork under real constraints, and the confidence that comes from building something real with their own hands. Looking for STEM classes in NJ or coding classes for kids in NJ that go beyond a screen? This class is where it starts.

What Happens After Class?

Class graduates leave with a real, arena-tested combat robot and the skills to keep building. Ready for more? Our monthly Combat Robotics League lets kids upgrade their robot and compete against other builders in a real robotics competition right here in NJ. We also offer year-round robotics classes starting at Phase 1 Foundation, going deeper into Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Python, and AI. Every robot is league-compatible from day one.

Why Combat Robotics?

Combat robotics teaches kids that failure isn't the end — it's the beginning of the next build. When a weapon breaks mid-match or a wire comes loose, students don't get a hint on a screen. They troubleshoot, debug, and fix it under pressure. These are real engineering skills that no worksheet or drag-and-drop coding class can teach.

Build it, break it, make it better. That's the philosophy. Real engineering under real constraints — weight classes, time limits, material budgets. Students learn iterative design: test, fail, analyze, improve, repeat. These are life skills disguised as robot fights.

At Plum Crazy Robotics, this robotics class is where kids discover what they're made of. No pre-packaged kits. No on-screen instructions. Just real hands-on STEM challenges that demand creativity, persistence, and teamwork. This is robotics for kids the way it should be — the best Arduino classes for kids in NJ and the most unique engineering class in New Jersey. Serving families from Marlboro, Manalapan, Freehold, Holmdel, Colts Neck, Old Bridge, Middletown, East Brunswick, Aberdeen, Matawan, Hazlet, Howell, and all of Monmouth County and Central New Jersey.
